Westbourne House School in Chichester remained open last week and the teachers were looking after pupils whose parents are key workers.
Deputy Head Peter Fisher said: "It has been a privilege to be able to help our parents in this way, when we can only imagine how hard this is for all of them. Everyone has been so grateful. The children have been a joy to look after and it’s been really lovely to see new friendships developing across the age groups. We have been keeping them very busy with the help of some much-needed sunshine and they have been painting these wonderful 'keys' of support and beautiful rainbow pictures."
"Like all of us at Westbourne House School, these children, are in no doubt what an incredible job every key worker across the UK is doing and on behalf of our entire school family we are sending them a very heartfelt thank you," he added.
