Scholarships are to be awarded to children entering Year 3 and above in September 2019 with talent in academic areas, sport, music, art, DT and drama and attract fee remission of up to 30% on the basic day fee.
Headmaster, Charlie Minogue, said, “Moor Park is a school which prides itself on finding something that every child is good at and nurturing the talents of individual children is something that excites the staff here”. The list of scholarships won by Moor Park children is impressive: in 2017, 34 children won a total of 34 scholarships to senior schools and in 2018 the tally was 18 scholarships from 24 children alongside a record breaking set of exam results from their Year 8 leavers. These scholarships were awarded for academic achievement, sport, music, art, DT, all-rounder and drama; good evidence for the school being successful in meeting its aim of finding areas of strength in every child.
Moor Park’s experienced and passionate specialist sports coaches and daily games programme together with superb facilities ensure that talented young boys and girls are pushed on in all sporting areas. The school also opened a new Performing Arts Centre in September with inspiring spaces for music and drama, including a recording studio. The inspiring art department and extraordinary DT facilities, together with their inspirational teachers, have been getting the best out of children for many years.
A taste of what the school offers is available through Saturday Smash, a series of amazing activities for children in Years 3 to 5 on a Saturday morning. Musical theatre, bush craft, kayaking, cookery, orchestra and teambuilding are just some of the activities on offer and all for only £10 per morning. Moor Park have re-shaped their curriculum, shape of the day and teaching methods ready for September 2018 to encourage six habits of mind (Moor Park Mindsets) that are considered to give children an advantage as they take their place in an A.I. dominated and rapidly changing world. Mindsets such as critical thought, curiosity, confidence (to take a responsible risk), creativity, resilience and independence are all now being deliberately encouraged through what the school teaches and how they teach it. This approach is being used at all levels of the school and the innovative and forward-thinking initiative means that children of all abilities should benefit.
