Pupils at St Michael's Prep have investigated mysterious objects found in their school grounds.
The scene had been cordoned off and the children from Year 2 and 3 set off in groups to explore it, making notes, gathering evidence and discussing what they had found.
The event was part of the The Big Write and the pupils went on to compare notes and create 'Wanted' posters for the culprit.
Full descriptions of the scene were prepared, in case it was needed for evidence later, and detectives from the Year 2 division prepared press releases for the newspapers.
Year 2 teacher Jo Salmon said: “It was great fun! The two year groups thoroughly enjoy working together.”
Headteacher Jill Aisher added: “The Big Write is a fantastic way for the children to explore the use of different language for different tasks; the activity is one of a series, which help transition from Pre-Prep to Prep school and the smiles show just how much fun they had doing it!”
